India Live Updates: Total coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 5000-mark, including the death toll of 149. According to the latest data provided by the Union Health Ministry, there are 4643 active COVID-19 cases in India. So far, 401 coronavirus patients have been cured or discharged.
Unfortunately, 149 people have died due to deadly COVID-19 which has infected over a million people around the world. Maharashtra became the first state in India to record over 1000 coronavirus positive cases.
Apart from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi are two of the most affected states in the country. While India is currently under a 21-day complete lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, there were talks that the central government was considering to extend the lockdown period following suggestions provided by the state governments and experts.
However, the central government has categorically stated that no decision has been taken so far and advised everyone not to “speculate”. As the cases continue to rise in India as well as around the world, the research for coronavirus vaccine and COVID-19 medicine is underway.

“The total number of the coronavirus cases rises to 179 in the state which includes 16 deaths and 25 cured cases,” Health and Family Welfare Department.
3. MP Toll At 16
A 49-year-old coronavirus patient died at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, taking the total deaths in the district to 16.
4. 6 New Cases In Karnataka
6 new cases reported from 5pm yesterday till 12 noon today. Total cases in the state are 181 including 5 deaths and 28 cured cases: Health Department, Government of Karnataka.
5. Five More Cases In Rajasthan
Rajasthan recorded five more cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the total number of virus cases in the state to 348.
6. COVID-19 Update In Pune
Five people died of coronavirus in Pune in the last 12 hours, taking the COVID-19 toll in the Maharashtra district to 13, officials said on Wednesday.
Three of the deaths were reported from Sassoon General Hospital, and one each from Naidu Hospital and Nobel Hospital, a health official from the Pune Municipal Corporation said. All these patients had some co-morbid health conditions, he said.
