The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached 4, 421 and the death toll now stands at 114 , the Union Health Ministry said.
Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu continued to be the COVID-19 hotspots with maximum share in the total number of coronavirus cases in India amidst 21-day complete nationwide lockdown.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted that the ‘war’ against Coronavirus may take longer than expected.
1. New Case In Haryana
A contact of a Tablighi Jamaat returnee has tested positive for Coronavirus in Haryana’s Fatehabad’s Jandwala village. Police said, “the area has been declared as a containment zone and no kind of movement will be allowed in the area for the next 24 hours.
2. 9-Month Pregnant Woman Dies In Mumbai
A 30-year-old pregnant woman from Nallasopara was among the seven COVID-19 deaths reported in the State on Monday. The woman, who was nine months pregnant, succumbed at BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai Central on April 4.
According to doctors, the woman was brought to the hospital with severe respiratory distress. “She was suspected to have COVID-19 and was immediately shifted to the isolation ward,” said a doctor, adding that she went into acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Doctors said the foetus also died. “It was the 36th week of the pregnancy. But since the woman came in with acute breathlessness, we had to first look at stabilising her. However, she passed away within a few hours of admission.
3. 308 COVID-19 Cases In Uttar Pradesh
“Till now, there are total of 308 COVID-19 positive cases including 168 Tablighi Jamaat returnees. We have 10 testing labs in the state today. UP COVID-Care Fund will be used for strengthening of healthcare system including establishing more testing facilities and COVID-19 hospitals.
4. Jamaati Corona Patient Escapes From UP Hospital
65-year-old corona positive patient, who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi last month, escaped from the hospital on Tuesday after breaking the glass pane and cutting the wire mesh on the window.
He used his clothes to form a rope and scale down the building. Safid Miyan, a resident of Sursuri in Nepal, had been quarantined after he was found to be a member of the Jamaat. He had tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday and was undergoing treatment at the primary health centre in Khekhra.
Safid Miyan was a part of a group of 17 people from Nepal, who had attended the Delhi Tablighi Jamaat gathering.
5. 12 New Cases In Karnataka
12 new positive cases, including 4 Tablighi Jamaat returnees and their 3 contacts and 5 others of Coronavirus, reported in the state. Till now, there are 175 COVID19 positive cases in the state including 4 deaths and 25 discharge or cured.
6. 12 New COVID-19 Cases In Bhopal
12 new positive cases of Coronavirus reported in Bhopal. These include 5 persons from the health department and 7 police personnel and their contacts; till now, total of 74 positive cases in Bhopal.
7. Maharashtra Reports 23 New COVID-19 Cases
23 new Coronavirus positive cases reported in Maharashtra today. 1 from Sangali, 4 from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 3 from Ahmednagar, 2 from Buldhana. BMC 10, Thane 1 & Nagpur 2. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 891.
8. Uttar Pradesh: Lockdown may be extended
With the number of Covid-19 patients rising and about to cross the 300 mark in UP, the Yogi Adityanath government is now reviewing its decision of lifting the lockdown on April 15.
‘There is still time for the lockdown and we will review the situation and then decide,’ he said.
