Long-distance relationships can be challenging for anyone, particularly when trying to maintain an effective connection with someone you care about who lives far away.
They’re even harder if you’re considering foreign women for marriage and hoping to build one in another country – yet many have found love through distance relationships and created successful ones!
But regardless of these obstacles, many have successfully found love abroad! Regardless, whether in an ongoing long-distance relationship or considering entering one for yourself it’s essential that you understand the do’s and don’ts so you can maintain an optimal connection that will support both of you ensuring you both maintain healthy connections that lead to fulfilling relationships.
Dos of Long-Distance Relationships:

To make a long-distance relationship work, there are several dos that you should keep in mind. Here are some of the most important ones:
1. Communication:
Regular and honest communication is key in any long-distance relationship. Make sure to stay in touch with your partner as much as possible, and use technology like video chat and messaging to your advantage. You can also try using a dating agency like UADreams to help facilitate communication and build a connection with someone special.
2. Trust:
Establishing trust is crucial in any relationship, but it’s especially important when you’re far away from each other. Make sure to be open and transparent with your partner, avoid jealousy and suspicion, and keep your promises and commitments.
3. Quality Time:
Even though you’re not physically together, you can still spend quality time with your partner. Plan virtual date nights where you can watch movies, play games, or cook together. Share hobbies and interests, and surprise each other with care packages to show you care.
4. Reassure Yourself It Won’t Be the End of the World
Staying connected through smartphones, video chat, and apps makes staying in contact easier than ever, which gives both parties room to grow while remaining independent within your relationship (which is beneficial).
5. Be Creative
Now is the time to let your imagination soar! Don’t allow phone calls, virtual hang-outs, or distance dates to become boring; look for ways to make them memorable even from afar – themed movie nights, games, or prompts from communication apps could all add another level of interest! Make every effort to show someone how much they matter by keeping things interesting!
6. Have an End Date to Close the Distance (Even Just Temporarily)
Long-distance relationships can be tough, so having an end date in mind to bring them closer (even temporarily) can provide much-needed hope and perspective.
I recommend not counting days for your countdown unless your time spent apart will last less than one or two weeks – this makes time seem longer!
For longer separations (more than 12 months apart), group two or three months together into chunks to create “checkpoints”, because counting even months can seem dauntingly long!
Don’ts of Long-Distance Relationships

While there are things you should do to make a long-distance relationship work, there are also things you should avoid. Here are some common don’ts:
1. Neglecting the Relationship:
Don’t let distance be an excuse to avoid communication with your partner. Keep the relationship alive and avoid putting it on hold, even if you’re busy or dealing with other issues. It’s important to make time for each other, even if it’s just a quick check-in.
2. Being Overly Controlling:
Avoid being possessive or controlling with your partner, especially when you’re far away from each other. Trust is key in any relationship, and it’s important to give your partner space and independence. Don’t pressure them into constant communication or dictate how they should spend their time.
3. Cheating:
Cheating is never acceptable in any relationship, and it’s especially damaging in a long-distance one. Avoid situations that could lead to cheating and communicate openly with your partner if you’re feeling tempted or concerned. Trust and loyalty are essential to building a strong connection with someone, no matter the distance.
4. Avoid Being Afraid to Shorten Conversations
Sometimes life gets in the way and our best selves just don’t shine through.
Combine this with having too many things on our plates or not getting enough sleep or feeling pressured into keeping to our schedule perfectly and we can easily become less than cordial in conversation – which could easily turn into heated arguments and/or poorly thought-out exchange of words.
Trust me: when on a call with someone and their behavior begins becoming hostile or unpleasant (such as becoming extra cranky or angry), it is better just respectfully ending that call instead!
5. Over Communicate
Texting can be great when communicating over distance – that’s why I included it on my to-do list – but too much can be too much. If you text every detail of your day, nothing will remain for longer conversations when connecting again later on; also you will spend way too much of your personal time texting when there are so many more enriching ways of spending your free time!
Maintaining a successful long-distance relationship requires effort, commitment and communication. By adhering to certain dos and don’ts of long-distance dating relationships, it can help establish trust while communicating openly and spending quality time together despite your distance apart. Who knows? You might just find your soulmate!
